Plans for the Future
While opening one door ends another, Coote intends to keep an active presence in the sport. Transitioning into the media career-advocating for referees and sensitizing people regarding some issues they must deal with. “We don’t get an easy ride of it,” he said, making the case for a greater understanding, if not respect, for the officials in the game.
Besides that, he intends to train for a marathon in May 2025 to raise funds for research into motor neuron disease. It’s a deeply personal cause for him. His uncle is afflicted with the disease. “I’ll be looking to ensure my health and well-being is at its best,” he said.
